Welcome to preschool at ELCA!

College begins in preschool!  The 3 and 4-year-old preschool programs at ELCA are not just "baby-sitting" or "play-school" services.  One of our goals is for all students to have positive experiences and memories that will lay a foundation for future learning.  Students in preschool at ELCA enjoy a safe and loving environment with a low student/teacher ratio.  Our qualified, dedicated teachers strive to create a warm, creative atmosphere in the classroom.

Preschoolers love to learn

The foundation that children receive in the first years of school may determine how well they do later.  If a love for learning is embraced, it will follow students for a lifetime.  Past research in early childhood learning shows that what a child can and should be learning has been greatly underestimated.  Our ELCA parents are thrilled to see what their children learn in reading, writing, numbers, and social skills.  In both the K-3 and K-4 programs, students develop a sense of accomplishment that contributes to the child's confidence and self-assurance.

3-Year-Old Program

Parents of 3-year-old students have the choice of either a 2-day or 3-day per week program.  The 2-day classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday, while the 3-day classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Students in K-3 learn the alphabet along with the sound of each letter.  They learn to count, recognize numbers, colors, and shapes, as well as participate in a number of craft projects.  Bible stories, prayer, and fun Christian songs are a part of the daily schedule.  In K-3 students begin to mature socially through interaction with their peers, and develop an understanding of routines and classroom habits.

4-Year-Old Program
Students in K-4 build on the foundation they began in K-3.  Learning to form letters into words and words into sentences is exciting.  Students begin to establish a strong reading foundation through the development of listening and language skills.  Counting is more advanced, and students learn to develop basic math concepts.  Crafts projects continue in K-4 and Bible stories, prayer, and fun Christian songs are daily activities, too.  The atmosphere in K-4 is still "kid-friendly," but the schedule begins to have a little more structure and routine.

Class Times

K-3 and K-4 classes are in session from 8:00 A.M. - 12:00 Noon.  Early morning care is provided as early as 7:30 A.M.; however, after-school care is not provided
