Jonathan Gess - Head Football Coach

Coach Gess came to ELCA in 2007 from First Presbyterian Day School in Macon where he coached Offensive Line.  He is a graduate of The Citadel where he played football for four years.  He and his wife Dee both teach at ELCA as Coach Gess is in the Math Department.  Coach Gess also teaches varsity sports classes along with 9th grade weightlifting and Bible.  Coach Gess is in charge of our weight room and our Chargers Iron Works and he is dedicated to our weight room and making our guys and girls  at ELCA  stronger and faster .  Coach Gess belives that things start in the weight room and works hard to make sure everyone from Middle School to Varsity gets a chance to lift everyday and this dedication is the reason he is trying  to make ELCA Football the best program in the state.  In order to be the best program, Coach Gess believes that his players must work hard in their pursuit of being a great football player but he also knows and works hard making sure they are pursuing Jesus Christ.  Coach Gess is concerned about the character of his football team and his players growing up to be good Godly men and husbands.  This combination makes him a great coach.
