Welcome to Elementary School at ELCA
At ELCA we are committed to working with parents in order to provide an educational environment that encourages growth in Christian character. We believe that our students should strive for excellence in all things - academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We provide a loving, safe atmosphere that nurtures our students toward this goal, and we strongly encourage parent participation on our campus. We want to be an extension of the home, assisting parents in the challenge of raising Godly leaders for the next generation.
Academics
The elementary curriculum is a composite of skill training. The core subjects of reading, writing, and arithmetic are rounded out with lessons in science, history, health, and Bible. In addition, our students attend classes in computer, art, music, physical education, and Spanish. There is a strong emphasis on reading as our classrooms use the Foundations and Frameworks Reading Program. Classroom teachers also encourage students to set high goals for the Accelerated Reader Program. Classroom experiences are supplemented by a variety of teaching aids, including hands-on activities, special reports, and field trips. In grades two through five an overnight field trip is included during the year.
Spiritual
Chapel is held every Monday for elementary students. Grade appropriate Bible stories/studies, scripture memorization, and prayer are a part of every classroom schedule. In the younger grades Christian songs are also a vital part of the day.
Faculty
Education revolves around the interaction of teachers and students. The teachers at ELCA make learning exciting and meaningful. Our teachers are committed Christians who are remarkable in their abilities to bring out the very best in every student.
