PE UNIFORMS

Grades 1-5 do not dress out for PE.  Athletic shoes or Merrills are required to participate.  On field days or for other similar activities, if shorts are permitted, they must fit loosely and meet the acceptable length requirement (no higher than two inches above the knee.)

MIDDLE SCHOOL | DRESSING OUT

From Middle School Syllabus: All students (grades 6-8) are expected to dress out in the PE dressing room in an ELCA PE uniform each day.  ELCA PE uniform includes:

SHIRT: Any t-shirt, sweatshirt, or hooded sweatshirt which has been purchased or provided from an ELCA athletic team or ELCA organization is acceptable.  The shirt must have ELCA on it and be in good condition.  Sleeves and/or neck cannot be cut out. ELCA outerwear worn as a shirt is not acceptable.  Students who do not dress in approved shirts will lose 5 points from their dressing-out grade that day.

SHORTS OR SWEATPANTS: Navy blue ELCA PE shorts purchased from the school store, shorts that are distributed by an ELCA athletic team, or shorts purchased from an ELCA organization that meet our fit requirements are allowed.  Shorts must fit loosely and meet the acceptable length requirement as outlined in the student handbook, “no higher than two inches above the knee.”  Also, students may wear sweatpants that are a solid school color (black, white, grey, blue, yellow).  Sweatpants must be loose-fitting.  If too tight, they will not be allowed.  Yoga pants and running tights are not appropriate to wear in PE and will not be allowed.  Compression undergarments worn under approved shorts are acceptable.  If you do not have appropriate shorts or warmup pants, you will not be allowed to participate in the day’s activity. Students who do not dress in approved shorts or warm-up pants will lose 5 points from their dressing-out grade, and 3 points from their participation grade that day.

SHOES:  Athletic shoes, with non-marking soles, that fit well are also a requirement.  If you do not have appropriate shoes, you will not be allowed to participate in the day’s activity.  Students who do not wear approved shoes will lose 5 points from their dressing out grade, and 3 points from their participation grade that day.
