Fine arts begin early at ELCA. Pre-K students explore creativity through hands-on visual art and weekly music experiences that introduce rhythm, movement, melody, and foundational musical concepts.
Music
ELCA's preschool music program is designed as part of an aligned curriculum that helps students explore performing arts disciplines through age appropriate elements of music. Students in PreK3 and PreK4 go to the music suite once a week for music class. They also perform three times during the school year on the big stage in the auditorium. The GELDS standards for preschool as well as Biblical Worldview Integration drives this curriculum.
Art
In preschool, the visual arts are introduced in their classrooms by their preschool teachers to prepare them for art classes in Kindergarten.
Kindergarten - 4th Grade
Lower School students grow as artists, musicians, and performers through weekly visual art and music classes, keyboarding/technology instruction, and three annual performances. Each experience builds creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Music
ELCA's elementary music program is designed as part of an aligned curriculum that helps students explore performing arts disciplines through age appropriate elements of music. Students in Kindergarten through the fourth grade go to the music suite and the keyboard/technology lab to explore the different performing arts disciplines. Because this curriculum is aligned through high school, they will be prepared to continue in and develop these skills in middle school. Our curriculum is driven by the Georgia Music Standards, as well as Biblical Worldview Integration. ELCA elementary students perform three times during the school year on the stage in the auditorium.
Art
In elementary grades, all students participate in the study of visual arts. They are exposed to various forms and mediums of art, including painting, drawing, clays and forms, and more. Students advance each year to the next level based on the aligned curriculum and are ultimately prepared to study art at a more advanced level once they enter the middle school art program. Virtual art shows happen throughout the year, as well as two fourth grade art presentations in our lobby for public viewing.
