Please join us for the 10^th annual Book Character Day on Friday, March 2^nd!

 

All students are encouraged to dress as a favorite book character for the Grand Book Character Day Parade! The parade will commence at 8:15AM, so be sure to take your spot along the elementary hallways to get a good view.

 

This is the biggest library fundraiser of the year and each student is asked to make a $15 donation to the library which will provide a new book to be enjoyed by everyone.  Please click on the appropriate link for your child's Book Character Day form.

Grades 1 through 5 will also participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) sponsored program, “READ THE MOST FROM COAST TO COAST!”  We’re encouraging every student to take at least one AR quiz on Friday, March 2 in an attempt to shatter last year’s national record of 2,177,586 quizzes taken in a single day!

 

On top of all that…March 2^nd is the birthday of famous author, Dr. Seuss! The library will celebrate his birthday all week with the reading of The Lorax in conjunction with the release of the motion picture on Friday, March 2^nd.  The Lorax has strong environmental themes, especially regarding issues such as deforestation, and air and water pollution.

 

So, students…start reading, prepare to ace some AR quizzes, and work on those costumes!  Join us for an incredible week that celebrates reading, literacy and education, and thank you so much for your support of the ELCA libraries!
